Championship Meets are
here!
ASL put on a terrific
showing at both the Age Group State and Senior Sectional meets last
weekend! Congratulations to Jackie Jeschke for winning the
high point award for the 11-12 girls and bringing home eight (count
'em 8!) state titles in the process. We didn't stop there, as
the 11-12 girls scored high finishes in all of their relays and we
had numerous Top 8 and 16 finals swims. Special
congratulations goes out to Lindsay Wallace, Lawrence Moore, and
Jackie Jeschke for earning their spots on the Georgia Zone
Team!
At the Senior Sectional
meet, we had a small group of swimmers take on some of the best
swimmers (age group, high school, college, and professional) in the
southeast. Some of the finals races were dominated by college
and pro swimmers, but ASL swimmers held their own! All four
of our attending swimmers earned finals swims throughout the
weekend, and Steven Kekacs brought home four Top-8 finishes.
His 200 Fly (5th place) is a new Junior National time standard and
team record, and the 800 free (3rd place) is a Senior National cut
as well as a new team record.
The Senior State Team was
up to the task of carrying the momentum - we had a weekend full of
breakthrough swims and placed four more swimmers on the Georgia
Zone Team - congratulations to Kate Clark, Eric Collins, Nick
Brown, and Alex Schafer for making the team.
That puts our total
representation on the Georgia Zone Team to SEVEN! Well Done
Swimmers! We'll be finishing up our long course season at the
Zone meet which begins Tuesday, and at Nationals and Junior
Nationals beginning August 7.

Spartanburg Firecracker

ASL finished off a great
(but long) weekend in Spartanburg - despite a couple of weather
