ASL Swim Meet Entry
Information
Swim meets
are an important part of the experience of being a competitive
swimmer. They are a valuable opportunity for swimmers to have
fun and bond with their teammates. Swim meets are not only
important for the immediate improvement that they show, but they
tell the coaching staff what our strengths and weaknesses are so we
can continue to work on those in
practice.
Frequency of competitions varies depending on the age and
experience of the swimmer. Young beginning swimmers only need
a few year-round meets a year, and we host enough meets to cover
this. Older advanced swimmers need higher levels of
competition, so we choose meets around the region to satisfy their
needs.
It is our
expectation that all ASL swimmers attend our home meets if
possible. Travel meets are optional for the Senior
Competitive, Bronze and Silver groups, recommended for the Gold
Groups, and necessary for the Senior
group.
UPDATE: This year the
process for entering home meets has
changed.Swimmers/parents must signup for
meets through the website or by emailing Coach Adam
at adambyars@comcast.net before the
deadline that will be listed with each meet. Information about
the meet will be featured prominently on the website and coaches
will remind swimmers. Email reminders also will be sent
out.
For
travel meets, the coaching staff will receive the meet information
from the host team several weeks before the entry deadline. We
will post the information to the website, and if you want to travel
to that meet, e-mail adambyars@comcast.net with the days you want
to compete.
The
coaching staff is responsible for entering the swimmers in
events. Sometimes the swimmer may be entered in an event that
is not their favorite; however, we believe that swimmers should
learn to race and compete in all strokes/distances as they are
ready.
Above
all, we want the swimmer’s experience at meets to be a
positive one and for them to have
fun!
